Rising Amapiano star JayJayy continues her impressive run with the release of her new romantic single “Phesheya,” a soulful and intimate anthem that adds a fresh dimension to her artistry. At just 19, the young vocalist has already carved out her space in the Amapiano landscape with chart-topping hits like “Di Kgomo” and “Ngeke n’Believe’e.” Now, with “Phesheya,” she returns with a sound that blends vulnerability, groove, and heartfelt storytelling — and she’s opening up about the journey behind it all.

In this exclusive interview with The Yanos Magazine, JayJayy speaks about exploring a softer side of Amapiano, working with trusted collaborator Mordecai, and navigating a fast-rising career still in its early stages.

1. “Phesheya” shows a softer, romantic side to your music. What inspired you to explore this more intimate sound?

1. My inspiration came from the instrumental itself. When Mordecai sent it to me, I felt an instant connection—an undeniable sense that this was exactly the direction I needed to go.

2. This is your third collaboration with Mordecai. What makes your creative chemistry with him work so well?

He’s an incredible person to work with—someone who gives me the space to be myself, to create freely, and to make art in the way I know best.

3. How did the concept for “Phesheya” come together — both emotionally and musically?

Emotionally, I found myself wandering through a place I’d never been before—a landscape shaped by longing and quiet ache. Musically, I tried to open a door into that world, inviting listeners to step inside and feel what I felt.

4. You’ve had a massive year with hits like “Di Kgomo” and “Ngeke n’Believe’e.” How has this success shaped your artistry?

I’m finding my voice one song at a time, growing through every melody and lyric. And with each release, I’m beginning to understand what my audience loves, creating a deeper connection between us.

5. At just 19, you’re already one of the most exciting new voices in Amapiano. How do you navigate the industry at such a young age?

I’m surrounded by an extraordinary team whose guidance lights the path ahead. Their dedication and faith in me make every challenge feel possible.

6. “Di Kgomo” hit #1 on YouTube and “Phesheya” feels like another strong moment for you. How do you handle the pressure of rising popularity?

Like I said, I’m blessed with an amazing team that truly holds me down and keeps me grounded.

7. You’ve collaborated with major names like Royal Musiq, Shakes & Les, 031 Choppa, and Shoesmeister. What have been your biggest lessons from working with different creatives?

Staying true to who you are and believing deeply in your craft is where real magic begins.

8. What do you hope listeners feel or take away when they hear “Phesheya”?

Awe-inspired, they find themselves thinking of the person who means the world to them.

9. What can fans expect from you next — more music, visuals, or possibly a project?

They can look forward to more music, with a full project coming their way next year.

10. How do you see your role in shaping the sound and future of Amapiano as you continue to grow?

Through being unapologetically myself and letting my stories unfold, I hope to touch souls, inspire courage, and remind others of their own strength.
