Last night Focalistic and Ch’cco hosted an exclusive listening session for Based On A True Story (B.O.A.T.S) Album and it was nothing short of incredible, some industry insiders were invited to. The Yanos magazine was in attendance, from the moment we walked in, it was clear they weren’t just hosting a launch preview, but witnessing history in the making.
The setting was intimate yet buzzing with anticipation. With sleek sound systems and a vibrant atmosphere, Africori provided the perfect backdrop for an evening dedicated to South Africa’s next big cultural moment. As soon as the first track dropped, the room lit up. Focalistic and Ch’cco wasted no time reminding us why they’re two of the hottest names in the game.
Adding to the electricity of the evening were powerdul apearances from some of amapiano’s brightest starts. Nkosazzana Daughters, Papi Cooper, never one to disappoint, brought her dynamic presence to the stage, matshing raw talent with unstoppable energy and Dj Tshegu were to show some support.
Track after track, they gave us bangers, songs that had everyone nodding their heads, vibing along, and already predicting which singles would dominate the charts. The chemistry between the two artists was undeniable, with Focalistic’s charismatic street-smart delivery perfectly complemented by Ch’cco’s smooth, innovative flair. Together, they showcased an album that blends township soul, amapiano rhythms, and global ambition into something truly special.
At one point during the evening, Focalistic paused to share heartfelt gratitude with the audience: “You all look amazing and I just want to thank you all for pulling through for us.” His words summed up the spirit of the night appreciation, unity, and a deep love for the music that continues to move the culture forward.
What was so striking was the storytelling. Based on a True Story isn’t just a collection of songs, it feels like a narrative, weaving experiences of hustle, resilience, and celebration into one powerful body of work. Tracks destined for dancefloors sat comfortably next to more reflective cuts, offering a dynamic balance that proves the album will resonate both locally and internationally.
Being in the room, one could feel the pride from everyone present. The beats reverberated through the space, sparking conversations and head-shakes of approval. Every song unveiled seemed to capture a different side of the streets Focalistic represents and the future Ch’cco is helping shape.
As the night came to a close, one thing was for certain, Focalistic and Ch’cco have crafted a project that will dominate playlists, clubs, and international stages.
