South African music sensation Tyla stole the spotlight at Variety’s 2025 Power of Young Hollywood party, held at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on 7 August. The annual event honours rising stars whose influence and creativity are shaping the future of entertainment, and this year Tyla stood tall among the brightest names.
She was recognised alongside global talents Finn Wolfhard and Sam Nivola, celebrating their cultural impact and contributions to music, film, and art. The atmosphere buzzed with youthful energy as actors, musicians, and creators mingled, marking a night dedicated to innovation and inspiration in the entertainment industry.
Taking centre stage to accept her award, Tyla delivered a heartfelt speech that reflected both humility and determination. According to Variety, she expressed deep gratitude to her team, singling out her glam squad for keeping her performance-ready at every turn. She also used the moment to reflect on her path from Johannesburg to the world stage.
“When I was younger, I did not know what I was doing,” she admitted with a smile. “I’m still figuring it out, but I had a lot of passion and a lot of belief in myself.” She went on to acknowledge the faith her team had in her long before her global breakthrough: “I thank my team for believing in me before there was proof that it was gonna work.”
Earlier on the red carpet, Tyla teased fans with hints about her upcoming album, sparking anticipation across her global fanbase. The singer’s family was also part of the celebration, with her father and brother proudly joining the guest list for the evening.
Closing her speech with a burst of optimism, Tyla gave a rallying call to young creatives everywhere: “Power to the youth, power to the young creatives. We’re killing it, and we’re gonna keep on killing it. We are the future!”
From navigating cultural challenges where women often face traditional expectations, to becoming one of South Africa’s most recognisable global exports, Tyla has remained grounded while aiming high.
With an award in her hand, a highly anticipated album on the horizon, and a steadily growing international following, Tyla’s journey is only just beginning—and if this night was any indication, her star will keep shining even brighter.
