South African Amapiano sensation Uncle Waffles was left disappointed after she was snubbed from performing at the Wireless Festival in the UK, despite being fully prepared and arriving well ahead of her scheduled set.
The internationally acclaimed DJ was booked to perform on the Old Spice Stage on Day 3 of the highly anticipated festival — the same weekend where Drake headlined all three days. Fans were eagerly awaiting her performance, which would have marked another major international milestone in her fast-rising career.
However, Uncle Waffles’ team has since revealed that she never got the chance to perform due to what they described as poor coordination and being overlooked by festival organizers. According to a statement from her team, she arrived two hours before her set, fully ready to hit the stage, but organizers failed to manage the schedule and logistics around her appearance.
Taking to the stage briefly, Uncle Waffles personally addressed her fans, explaining that she wouldn’t be able to perform because of an issue that was never resolved by the event organizers. She expressed her disappointment, noting how much she had been looking forward to performing and sharing her music with fans in the UK.
We waited for almost two hours and walked all around to get here and preparing the whole day, and unfortunately the time is over and we have to go. The whole team is here, and everything was prepared, but now they tried cheating us today, so we have to go. I’m so sorry, guys; it’s not our fault. I want you guys to know we would never abandon you guys,” she said.
Her fans, both in attendance and online, were quick to rally behind her, flooding social media with support and calling out the festival organizers for what they saw as unfair treatment of one of Africa’s biggest exports.
The snub was particularly painful for many, given Uncle Waffles’ ongoing global rise. From viral sets to appearances at Coachella and international tours, she has proven time and again that she is a force to be reckoned with on any stage.
Despite the setback, Uncle Waffles remains committed to her craft, and fans are hopeful she’ll soon return to the UK — this time with the spotlight she rightly deserves.
