South Africa’s legendary duo Scorpion Kings, made up of Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, are once again proving they’re not just about music — they’re about impact. The Amapiano powerhouses have just announced their brand-new “100 Lives Initiative”, an internship programme aimed at empowering young people in the events and entertainment industry.
The initiative, launched in partnership with Betway and the Betway Cares Foundation, promises to change the lives of 100 young South Africans by providing them with hands-on experience and training opportunities tied directly to the upcoming Scorpion Kings Live stadium show.
Taking to Instagram, Kabza De Small shared the announcement and wrote:
“We are happy to announce the ‘100 Lives Initiative’ internship programme in partnership with Betway & the Betway Cares Foundation. 100 young people will be selected to join the team behind the iconic stadium show, gaining skills, training, and bursary opportunities through Betway and Betway Cares.”
This groundbreaking opportunity is open to individuals aged 18–28, who are residents of Gauteng, and who have a passion for or are currently involved in the events and entertainment industry. Selected participants will not only work closely with the team producing the Scorpion Kings Live show, but will also benefit from valuable skills development, mentorship, and possible bursary support.
Applications are open until 6 August 2025, and interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CVs and cover letters to scorpionkingslive@gmail.com.
This move by Kabza and Phori underscores their continued commitment to giving back to the community while uplifting the next generation of talent behind the scenes — not just on stage. It’s a powerful statement about using success and influence to create sustainable impact.
The Scorpion Kings have already set the tone for what excellence in Amapiano and live entertainment looks like. Now, with this initiative, they’re planting seeds for future producers, event managers, sound engineers, and creatives who might one day help shape the next era of South African music and events.
With the “100 Lives Initiative,” the Scorpion Kings are showing that true icons don’t just shine — they light the way for others.
