Amapiano star LeeMcKrazy has survived a terrifying attempted hijacking in Johannesburg, leaving fans shaken but relieved that the rising star is safe and recovering. The “Kokotela” hitmaker, whose real name is Linda Mnisi, was reportedly pepper-sprayed and rushed to hospital after the attack, which unfolded shortly after his performance at Cosmopolitan Nightclub in Maboneng.
According to reports from Buzz Life News and Briefly News, the 22-year-old artist was traveling with three friends when the incident occurred. Their vehicle was parked outside the venue when one of them stepped out to retrieve something from inside. That’s when a group of five unknown assailants reportedly approached the car and launched the attack.
A friend close to LeeMcKrazy recounted the ordeal:
“One of the guys opened the door to the car, and about five guys came and pepper-sprayed everyone. They poured some kind of acid and pepper-sprayed LeeMcKrazy.”
Miraculously, the attackers fled the scene after recognizing LeeMcKrazy’s face, possibly realizing he was a well-known public figure. Though the car was not stolen and no physical possessions were taken, LeeMcKrazy suffered injuries to his eyes and was urgently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Doctors reportedly told his team that any delay could have led to permanent damage to his eyesight, underscoring the seriousness of the attack. Fortunately, he received swift medical attention and has since made a full recovery.
Despite the frightening incident, LeeMcKrazy is already back on his feet and continuing with his busy performance schedule. He recently travelled to Poland, where he is performing alongside Scotts Maphuma at the Monta Beach Volleyball festival, as shared in a recent Instagram post.
“He is just happy to be alive and safe,” a close friend told the media. “He took some time off to rest, but now he’s back at work.”
LeeMcKrazy, who is signed under Gipa Entertainment, has since reassured fans of his well-being, saying:
“I’m working, all is good.”
While no police case has reportedly been opened yet, the incident serves as a chilling reminder of the rising levels of crime affecting even public figures. Still, LeeMcKrazy’s resilience and quick return to the stage shows his commitment to both his music and his fans.
