Amapiano heavyweight Kabza De Small sent shockwaves of excitement through fans when he made a surprise appearance at DJ Shimza’s Kunye event in Pretoria on Saturday, 28 June 2025. The crowd, completely caught off guard, erupted into loud cheers and chants the moment he stepped onto the stage—proving once again why he is dubbed the “King of Amapiano.”
The unexpected moment was captured in a now-viral video shared by social media user @Vuyo_Gatsheni on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, 29 June. In the footage, Kabza De Small, born Kabelo Motha, casually walks onto the Kunye stage while the crowd goes wild, overwhelmed by the presence of one of South Africa’s most beloved musical figures.
Known for his ability to constantly elevate the Amapiano genre, Kabza has been busy ahead of the release of his highly anticipated upcoming album Bab’Motha. Originally scheduled for earlier this year, the album’s release date has now been confirmed for 18 July 2025, building even more excitement among fans. Despite the delay, Kabza has kept his fan base engaged with stellar live performances and surprise appearances like this one.
The Kunye event, hosted by DJ Shimza, is known for showcasing South Africa’s finest electronic and dance music talents. However, Kabza’s appearance turned the already star-studded night into an unforgettable one. His presence on stage was a significant moment, especially as he prepares to drop what many are predicting will be another genre-defining project.
Fans at the event were treated to a unique set, filled with soulful log-drums, smooth transitions, and unreleased material that may likely be part of Bab’Motha. The energy was unmatched as the crowd danced, sang, and recorded every moment of the iconic performance.
Kabza De Small continues to affirm his dominance in the music industry—not just through studio projects, but through real-time fan connection and electrifying live shows. If his surprise at Kunye is anything to go by, the Bab’Motha era is going to be nothing short of legendary.
