After a brief pause from the limelight, Mlindo The Vocalist returns with a heartfelt offering that reminds Mzansi why he remains one of the most powerful storytellers in South African music. His new single, “Inkomo Zika Baba”, featuring long-time collaborator DJ Maphorisa, Madumane, and rising star CowBoii, sets the tone for his forthcoming third studio album, Uhambo – The Journey.
Known for soulful classics like AmaBlesser and Emakhaya, Mlindo once again digs deep, delivering a touching tale of love, sacrifice, and commitment. Released as the lead single from his upcoming project, Inkomo Zika Baba (translated: “My Father’s Cows”) is a powerful ode to lobola traditions and the lengths a man would go for the woman he loves.
“My musical journey started with DJ Maphorisa. AmaBlesser was our first big hit together, so this song just felt like the perfect way to begin this new chapter,” Mlindo shared in a press statement. “Inkomo Zika Baba is about being so in love with someone that you’re willing to give them everything — even your father’s last cow, or take out a loan, just to marry them.”
The track blends soulful Amapiano rhythms with melodic storytelling, anchored by Mlindo’s emotive voice and Maphorisa’s slick, refined production. CowBoii and Madumane add their unique flavors to the track, delivering memorable verses and harmonies that further elevate the song’s emotional pull.
Uhambo – The Journey, as the album is titled, promises to chronicle Mlindo’s musical and personal evolution. From the commercial success of his debut Emakhaya, through the reflective tones of his sophomore album Lindokuhle, to this new chapter, the singer is offering fans an inside look into his life — complete with the growth, challenges, and triumphs that shaped him.
Taking to Instagram to announce the album countdown, Mlindo thanked his loyal supporters: “From Emakhaya to now, y’all have held me down. I’m back with something special, and this one’s from the heart.”
With Inkomo Zika Baba, Mlindo The Vocalist reminds us that great storytelling never goes out of style, and love — in all its forms — remains the most powerful story of all.
