Zee Nxumalo continues to make waves in the South African music scene — not only with her own chart-topping hits, but also with her genuine support and celebration of fellow female artists. In a recent interview on L-Tido’s popular podcast, the rising Amapiano star shared her Top 5 favourite female artists, proudly giving Thatohatsi her flowers as her ultimate favorite.
During the chat, Zee confidently revealed her list, saying:
“It definitely has to be Thatohatsi, the girl who sings ‘Gijima’ (Zawadi Yamungu), Tracy, Naledi Aphiwe, and Zee Nxumalo.”
While many fans were excited to see her include herself in the mix, it was her glowing praise for Thatohatsi that truly stood out. Zee did not hold back her admiration, calling Thatohatsi her number one and highlighting her as an exceptional artist and creative force.
“But I think my most favourite is Thatohatsi,” Zee said passionately. “Thato is the dog, a boss! Thato’s my most favourite out of all. She’s great — like she’s great, especially because I’ve been in studio with her. I see how she writes… She’s also very sensitive around her working process, because you can tell she’s someone who is really pouring into what they’re doing. She’s exceptional. She’s really good.”
The heartfelt moment resonated with many fans, with some praising Zee for her humility and willingness to uplift others in the industry — especially female artists who are often overlooked.
Thatohatsi, known for her powerful vocals on tracks like “Bo Gogo” has been steadily gaining recognition in the Amapiano scene. Zee’s public endorsement adds even more spotlight to her growing career.
Zee Nxumalo’s own journey has been nothing short of inspiring. With hits like “Ngisakhuthanda” and her EP “Inja Ye Game” recently surpassing 20 million Spotify streams, she’s proven to be a force of her own in the industry.
As Zee Nxumalo’s star continues to rise, so too does the influence of a new generation of female artists who are not only making hits but building each other up.
