South African global superstar Tyla continues to break barriers as she becomes the first African artist to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The multi-award-winning hitmaker made the exciting announcement on Thursday, 15 May, via her X (formerly Twitter) account, much to the delight of her fans around the world.

The 2025 edition of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is set to air on Wednesday, 25 June at 17:00 CAT on Nickelodeon (channel 305 on DStv), live from California. Tyla, known for her genre-bending sound and international appeal, will take centre stage as the host, bringing her signature energy and charm to one of the biggest nights in children’s entertainment.

In a cheerful announcement video posted on YouTube, the “Water” singer said:

“Hey y’all, it’s Tyla, and I’m gonna be hosting the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards. I got to control the slime guys!”

This milestone adds yet another historic moment to Tyla’s impressive list of achievements. Earlier this year, she became a Grammy Award winner, making waves globally with hits like “Water”, “Push 2 Start”, and her collaboration with BLACKPINK’s Lisa on “When I’m With You.” Hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards now cements her as not only a music star but also a rising global pop culture icon.

Fans and fellow artists have taken to social media to celebrate the announcement, with many praising her for flying the African flag high and opening doors for more young talent from the continent.

Tyla’s role as host is particularly significant as the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is known for celebrating young stars and empowering youth voices globally. Her involvement is expected to bring a fresh and international flair to the show, especially with her growing influence in both music and fashion.

With her unstoppable momentum, Tyla is not just representing South Africa — she’s representing an entire continent on a global stage. From the Met Gala red carpet to the Grammy stage and now hosting Nickelodeon’s biggest night, Tyla is proving that she is truly in a league of her own.

Make sure to tune in on 25 June to see Tyla make history once again!
