Amapiano sensation Young Stunna has come a long way in his career, and now he’s reflecting on one of his biggest milestones—earning his first million-rand cheque. The talented artist, known for hit songs like “Adiwele” and “Camagu”, recently spoke to Soweto Magazine about his journey to financial success and the lessons he has learned along the way.
Young Stunna recalls the shock and disbelief he felt when he first started earning big money from music.
“My first hundred thousand, I didn’t know what to do with it. I locked myself in my room in disbelief,” he shared. “I was like, ‘This is my first R100k, what am I going to do about it?’ I went crazy. I made my first million in my first year—it was crazy.”
The artist’s meteoric rise began in 2021, when he was invited to the studio by Kabza De Small, one of Amapiano’s biggest pioneers. At the time, Young Stunna was still trying to establish himself as a hip-hop artist, but his meeting with Kabza changed everything.
“I found my sound in Amapiano instead. Some two weeks after meeting my hero and hitting it off in the studio, we created the magical singles ‘Camagu’ and ‘Adiwele’.”
While earning his first million was a dream come true, Young Stunna admits that he wasn’t always smart with money in the beginning.
“I spent money recklessly, and I learned to save. I’m saving a lot now,” he said.
At 27 years old, the artist has realized the importance of financial discipline. He acknowledges that his fast-paced lifestyle has made it difficult to slow down and truly process his success.
“It’s been crazy. I haven’t been able to let it all sink in. Every week, there is something new, and I’m always on the road. There is less time with family and friends. I spend most of my time by myself,” he explained.
Despite the sacrifices, Young Stunna is grateful for the journey and remains focused on his growth, both musically and financially.
“Musically, I’m growing, and the money is getting bigger,” he concluded.
With his career on an upward trajectory, it’s clear that Young Stunna is just getting started, and his financial success is only going to grow from here.
