In the fast-paced world of Amapiano, one artist standing tall with an unmatched work ethic and raw authenticity is Tman Xpress. Known for his spiritually-charged vocals and consistent presence on major collaborations, Tman is now taking things a notch higher as he prepares to release a joint album with Mellow & Sleazy titled Midnight In Diepkloof.

In an exclusive sit-down with The Journalist DJ, Tman Xpress opened up about his journey, his daily grind, and the importance of staying grounded while building a legacy.

“I make a song every day,” he reveals. “Probably seven to ten songs a week. Some of them I even forget about until I go back and polish them.” For Tman, making music isn’t just a creative outlet—it’s a full-time job. “Just like people wake up and go to a 9 to 5, you need to wake up and go to the studio.”

Before his rise in the Amapiano scene, Tman juggled his musical dreams with a day job. But a moment of clarity changed his path. “There was a voice telling me, ‘Quit this 9 to 5 and go chase your dream.’ And I chased it, dawg. Now look—I’m doing it full time.”

His upcoming project Midnight In Diepkloof is a tribute to his hometown. “I said, let’s take it to Diepkloof, my hometown,” he shares, reflecting on the place that molded him.

While many fans know him for his standout performances on tracks like Imali iKhona, Chukela, and Kwelanga 2.0, Tman Xpress reveals he originally started out making Afro Tech music. “Now I’m blending that with Amapiano, and even getting into the 3-step sound. Anything that’s original and from South Africa—I want to be a part of it.”

His collaboration with Heavy K was another defining moment. “That track felt spiritual, man. Heavy K and I, we cooked something deep.”

As he gears up to drop Midnight In Diepkloof, Tman Xpress is showing no signs of slowing down. With his sights set on greatness and his roots firmly planted in Diepkloof, Tman is living proof that consistency, humility, and heart are a winning combination in the music game.
