Amapiano star Scotts Maphuma is carving out a solid name for himself in the South African music scene. Known for his catchy tracks and growing presence, the rising star recently sat down with L-Tido for an episode of the L-Tido Podcast, where he shared his personal Top 5 Amapiano artists of all time.
During the candid chat, Scotts opened up about the artists who’ve inspired him and helped shape his musical journey. While many fans expected him to put himself in the lineup, he chose to give props to his peers and pioneers in the genre.
“Number 5 has to be… I have to give it to Dali,” he said, referring to the popular vocalist Daliwonga. “He’s had a huge impact, especially when it comes to my career. He inspired Scotts Maphuma like too much, so I’d give number 5 to Dali. He’s got a lot of hits.”
Coming in at number 4 on his list was Sir Trill, whose distinct vocal style and consistent presence in Amapiano hits have earned him massive respect across the industry.
For number 3, Scotts gave credit to the dynamic duo Mellow & Sleazy, affectionately calling them “Taka” in reference to one of their popular sound tags. “I have to give them number 3,” he added.
At number 2, he placed LeeMcKrazy, also known as Lemeke, praising his unique approach and consistent delivery of bangers.
But sitting at the top of Scotts Maphuma’s list is none other than the King of Amapiano himself, Kabza De Small. “I’m gonna give Kabza number 1,” he said confidently, cementing Kabza’s legacy as a cornerstone of the Amapiano movement.
Scotts’ interview comes after a wave of headlines about his past attitude issues, but the young artist seems focused on growth and continues to win fans over with his music and evolving maturity. His willingness to show appreciation to fellow artists demonstrates humility and respect for the genre’s evolution.
As his fan base continues to grow, Scotts Maphuma is fast becoming one of the most talked-about voices in Amapiano — and his Top 5 list has only added fuel to the conversation.
