Focalistic has never been one to play it safe — and 2024 has already seen him reaffirm his status as one of South Africa’s most influential artists. Following the massive success of Biri Marung, which became a street anthem across the country, Foca is now hinting at something even bigger on the horizon: a game-changing album that could redefine how the world sees Amapiano.
In an exclusive chat with The Journalist DJ, the Pretoria hitmaker opened up about the next chapter in his career.
“Yoh! Just vibes, man. But I’m working on an album right now. You’re gonna make me say too much, but yeah — I’m working. And trust me, it’s going to change how people see the genre we’re making. We’re spending a lot of time on it,” Focalistic shared.
Just when fans thought he might take a breather, Foca surprised everyone by dropping a freestyle straight from the heart of Pretoria — shot in a township taxi, raw and authentic. The freestyle was a reminder that despite his global success, Foca remains grounded and connected to the very streets that raised him.
From Ke Star, which earned him a spot on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart, to 13POS in early 2024, Focalistic’s journey has been one of constant evolution. His discography — including Sgubu Ses Excellent (2020), President Ya Straata (2021), Ghetto Gospel (2022), and now 13POS — showcases not just his musical growth but his commitment to pushing boundaries and fusing township rap with Amapiano in new and exciting ways.
“We’re not just making music — we’re making moments,” he added. “This album is going to shift how people see what we’re doing. Trust me.”
While details around the upcoming album remain under wraps, one thing is clear: Focalistic isn’t just chasing hits — he’s building a legacy. From sold-out shows to street anthems and global recognition, Foca continues to fly the South African flag high.
Fans and music lovers should keep their ears to the ground. If history is anything to go by, this next Focalistic album won’t just be music — it’ll be a cultural reset.
