Amapiano sensation Young Stunna has addressed the delay behind the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Busisiwe’, which was initially announced in 2023. Despite dropping the lead single ‘uNonkosi’, the full project has yet to be released, leaving fans wondering what’s causing the hold-up.
In a recent sit-down on the Slikour On Life podcast, Young Stunna shared insights into the creative process and why he’s taking his time with the album.
The hitmaker revealed that he has already recorded more than 50 songs for the project. However, every time he and his team attempt to finalize the tracklist, something shifts, leading to a delay.
“I have more than 50 songs, but every time we try to fix the tracklist, something comes up. Then Pops (his mentor) says, ‘Boy, let’s slow down, let’s celebrate this.’”
Young Stunna further explained that his debut album, ‘Notumato’, is still doing well and continues to open doors for him, from touring opportunities to brand partnerships. His mentor encouraged him to follow a more strategic approach rather than rushing into the next project.
Young Stunna revealed that his mentor suggested taking cues from the Hip-Hop industry, where artists allow an album to fully run its course before moving on to the next one.
“My first album is still doing good. I still get to tour with my first album, so my dad (mentor) was like, let’s do it the Hip-Hop way. Let’s see how far this album will take you—and it got me Puma, Jägermeister, and Vodacom deals.”
The young star reflected on how far he has come, revealing that he made his first million at just 23 or 24 years old.
According to Young Stunna, ‘Busisiwe’ is a special album for him because it is a way to express gratitude for his journey so far.
“‘Busisiwe’ is just me saying thank you. ‘Notumato’ was the introduction, but Pops said the second album doesn’t have to be pressured. That’s why I’m selecting the tracklist on my own. We’re taking our time with this one.”
While there is still no official release date for ‘Busisiwe’, Young Stunna assures fans that the project is coming when the time is right. Given his track record, it’s safe to say the wait will be worth it.
