Spotify’s highly anticipated Global Impact List for 2025 has been released, and leading the South African edition with an astounding 13 songs in the top 25 is none other than Tyla. This prestigious list highlights the artists making waves beyond South Africa, proving the undeniable global influence of local talent.

The gifted singer-songwriter has firmly cemented her position as a powerhouse in the music industry. From chart-topping solo hits to high-profile collaborations, Tyla’s unique “popiano” sound—a fusion of pop and Amapiano—has resonated with listeners worldwide. Her dominance on the list is a testament to her growing international appeal and the impact of her fresh, genre-blending music.

Among her standout tracks on the list, “Jump” featuring Gunna and Skillibeng takes the lead, followed closely by her other fan-favorite singles such as “ART,” “Push 2 Start,” and “No.1” featuring Nigerian star Tems. Most of these tracks originate from her debut self-titled album, which has significantly contributed to her rise in the global music scene.

Tyla’s meteoric success is not new. In March 2023, she was honored as Spotify’s EQUAL Ambassador, a program designed to uplift and support female artists worldwide. That same year, she was also recognized as a RADAR Africa artist, a Spotify initiative dedicated to promoting rising African talent on the international stage. From an emerging artist to a dominant force in music, Tyla has continually proven her influence and talent on a grand scale.

Her reach extends even further with a total of 13 tracks making it onto the Global Impact List’s top 25. Songs like “On My Body,” “Breathe Me,” “Priorities,” “Back to You,” and “Intro” have captured audiences worldwide, solidifying her place as a global trendsetter. Her ability to merge Amapiano’s rhythmic beats with mainstream pop elements has made her a key figure in pushing South African music to new heights.

The rise of Amapiano has significantly contributed to this global takeover. One of the genre’s biggest hits of 2024, the platinum-certified “Biri Marung,” featuring CowBoii, DJ Maphorisa, Ego Slimflow, and Focalistic, continues to dominate charts worldwide. The track’s success underscores the enduring appeal of Amapiano and its expansion into international markets.

With Tyla at the forefront and Amapiano’s influence growing stronger, South African music is taking over the world like never before. The future of the genre is brighter than ever, with its infectious beats and homegrown talent making an indelible mark on the global stage.
