Rising music star Mawhoo is making headlines for all the wrong reasons as she takes to social media to condemn the treatment she and her family received at LIFE Fourways Hospital. Known for her hit records and formidable presence in the music industry, the artist expressed her deep frustration over what she describes as substandard service and blatant racial bias at the private hospital.

In an impassioned Instagram post, Mawhoo detailed her experience, stating,

“LIFE FOURWAYS HOSPITAL service is very poor, they treat people like dogs, I’ve never been embarrassed like that. Ey labantu ababazi abantu & it’s not the first time benza kanje. My cousin is very sick—she can barely breathe—but instead they are rude & ignoring, entertaining the white couple who came after her. I’m still shocked bez I thought private hospitals will assist fast, when we tell them ukuthi we need help, they said where are we rushing. Some people are so disrespectful. The only people they prioritise is white people.”

Her words reflect not only personal disappointment but also a broader commentary on the disparities in healthcare services that many South Africans face. Mawhoo’s account of witnessing preferential treatment for white patients has sparked widespread debate, drawing attention to issues of inequality and the urgent need for reforms in both public and private healthcare systems.

For Mawhoo, who has built her career on breaking boundaries and making waves in the industry, this incident hits close to home. Her frustration is palpable, as she recounts how the hospital staff seemed indifferent to the urgent needs of her ailing cousin while diverting attention to others who arrived later.
