Renowned Amapiano producer Tyler ICU has been making major moves in the industry, not only with his hit songs but also by creating opportunities for rising talents. In a recent interview, he revealed the inspiration behind launching his own record label, Baby Blue.

Tyler ICU explained that his main motivation was to give young artists the same opportunities he once received when he was an upcoming artist. Reflecting on his journey, he shared how industry heavyweights like DJ Maphorisa (Phori) and the late Riky Rick (Ricky) played crucial roles in his breakthrough.

“I wanted to give a chance to upcoming artists because I feel like I was given a chance when I was coming out. You know, I had Phori, Ricky – they played a very big role for me,” he said.

The hitmaker, known for songs like “Mnike” and “Banyana”, also spoke about how the industry is evolving, with younger talents emerging at a rapid pace.

“So I was like, okay, what am I gonna do? Because I’m getting old at the end of the day, reaching my late 20s, and there are new kids starting at like 18 or 19, straight out of high school, already into music. So I thought, why don’t I give them the opportunities that some of us also had? It’s about giving them the time that we also had,” he explained.

Tyler ICU emphasized that his decision wasn’t just about growing his own brand but about ensuring that the next generation of musicians gets the support they need. He believes in nurturing fresh talent and helping young artists navigate the competitive music industry.

With Baby Blue Records now up and running, Tyler ICU is dedicated to mentoring and signing artists who show great potential. His label aims to be a platform where new talents can thrive, just as he did under the guidance of industry pioneers.

Beyond his career achievements, Tyler ICU recently got engaged, marking another significant milestone in his personal life. As he continues to grow both professionally and personally, it’s clear that he is becoming the man he has always aspired to be—one who uplifts others and leaves a lasting impact on the industry.

With Baby Blue in motion, fans and upcoming artists can look forward to exciting new talent emerging under his guidance.
