The 30th South African Music Awards (SAMAs) took place on November 2, 2024, at the Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand, and one artist clearly stole the spotlight. Tyla took home four awards out of her five nominations.

This year’s SAMAs celebrated a range of musical talent, with categories designed to honour achievements across different genres and levels of international success. Tyla’s victories in the categories of Newcomer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, International Achievement, and Pop Song of the Year demonstrated not only her local popularity but also her growing global influence. Her absence at the event was felt, as she had prior commitments filming a music video, but she expressed deep gratitude through a video message, thanking her fans and the SAMAs for the recognition.

Tyla has been recognized globally with awards and nominations, including a Grammy, positioning her as one of the most promising new faces on the world stage. Her chart-topping music, often celebrated for its unique fusion of pop, R&B, and amapiano influences, continues to draw significant attention and acclaim.

Fans and industry insiders alike were thrilled by Tyla’s recognition at the SAMAs, where her wins were celebrated widely across social media platforms. Her victory in the International Achievement category particularly resonated, as it signalled her ability to bridge the South African music scene with international audiences.

She dedicated her wins to her supporters and team, noting that their encouragement has fuelled her ambition and drive.
