Azana, the talented vocalist behind the hit “Bo Gogo,” has been making waves in the music industry with her emotive voice and storytelling abilities. Collaborating with Sam Deep, the two artists released an EP titled Kwakhanya, which took off thanks to the raw and powerful single “Bo Gogo.” In a recent appearance on The Juice 2.0 podcast, Azana opened up about the process behind creating the song and how her personal struggles and emotions shaped the track.

Reflecting on the journey of making “Bo Gogo,” Azana shared that she wasn’t in the best mental space at the time. She explained, “When we made that song, I don’t think I was in a good space. I was very much frustrated with a lot of things, especially my career. So I make a lot of music—there’s a lot of music you guys haven’t heard that is just sitting in computers.” This emotional burden found an outlet in the song, giving it an authenticity that resonates deeply with listeners.

Azana described how her frustration and anger influenced her vocal performance, saying, “If you listen carefully to even my voice when I was singing in that song, it was anger.” The rawness of her delivery, combined with lyrics about jealousy and the obstacles she faced, made the song feel almost cathartic. She shared how she drew from her personal experiences of jealousy and people attempting to block her progress, a relatable theme for many.

In the music video for “Bo Gogo,” Azana’s powerful delivery of the lyrics underscores her emotions, especially when she emphasizes “UMONA” (jealousy in Zulu). This expression of anger and frustration speaks to the universal struggles many face, whether in career or personal life, and Azana captures this sentiment beautifully in her performance.

As Azana continues to pour her heart into her music, fans are eager to hear more from this talented artist who isn’t afraid to reveal her deepest feelings through her songs. With Kwakhanya and “Bo Gogo,” Azana has solidified her place in the industry as a voice to be reckoned with.
