Controversial South African podcaster and DJ Mac G has issued a public apology to singer Nkosazana Daughter for false statements made on his popular show, Podcast and Chill. The apology came in response to allegations that Mac G falsely claimed the singer’s child was not fathered by fellow artist Sir Trill, but by Master KG. The claims, which sparked a wave of controversy and public speculation, led to Nkosazana Daughter taking legal action against the podcaster.
During a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, Mac G acknowledged his mistake and expressed sincere regret for the distress his statements had caused. He stated, “I want to take this opportunity to apologize to Nkosazana Daughter for the comments I made on this show. I realize the impact my words had, and I regret the pain and embarrassment it may have caused her and her family.” The apology marked a significant moment for the podcaster, who is known for his candid and sometimes controversial approach to discussing celebrity news and entertainment.
The allegations first surfaced in July, when Mac G suggested that Nkosazana Daughter’s child was not fathered by Sir Trill, as widely believed, but by the well-known musician Master KG. The statement was met with outrage, with fans and members of the music industry criticizing Mac G for spreading unverified information. Nkosazana Daughter, whose real name is Nolwazi Nzama, responded by filing a R13 million defamation lawsuit against Mac G, co-host Sol Phenduka, and Duduzile Methula, citing the damage done to her reputation and emotional well-being.
Nkosazana Daughter’s legal representatives stated that the false claims had subjected her to public humiliation and distress, leading to the decision to pursue legal action to hold the podcaster accountable. In response, Mac G initially maintained his stance but eventually chose to offer a public apology in an effort to resolve the issue and avoid further legal complications.
The apology has drawn mixed reactions from the public, with some applauding Mac G for taking responsibility, while others questioned the sincerity of his remarks.
