DJ Maphorisa, one of South Africa’s most successful Amapiano music producers, is no stranger to online hate and industry criticism. Despite the negativity, Maphorisa remains unfazed and has learned to deal with the constant backlash in his own way. Known for his confident attitude and sharp clapbacks, the music star recently shared how he navigates the online hate that frequently comes his way.

Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sekowe, is often targeted for his expensive fashion choices and his approach to working with other artists. While many fans admire his success, others accuse him of exploiting fellow musicians, and he frequently trends on social media for reasons beyond his music. However, Maphorisa doesn’t allow the negativity to get under his skin.

In a candid post, Maphorisa opened up about how he reacts to the hate. He wrote, “As normal as a human being, obviously you react. When things are good, people are happy for you, that’s good too—it’s part of life.” His statement reflects a simple yet powerful philosophy: accepting both the praise and criticism as part of his journey. He understands that no matter what you do, people will always have something to say, whether it’s positive or negative.

Maphorisa further explained that being in the public eye comes with its challenges. “It’s life,” he said, acknowledging that there will always be those who hate on you, regardless of your actions. Despite the criticism, Phori remains grounded and often uses humor or a witty comeback to address the hate when necessary.

Known for his bold fashion statements and collaborations with the biggest names in the South African music scene, DJ Maphorisa is not afraid to stand out. He has built a strong reputation, not just for his music but for his unapologetic authenticity. While the criticism may persist, he refuses to let it define him.

Maphorisa’s attitude toward negativity sets an example for others in the spotlight. By accepting hate as part of life and focusing on his craft, he has continued to thrive, producing hit after hit and maintaining his position as one of the top players in the Amapiano genre. For DJ Maphorisa, the hate only fuels his drive to keep succeeding, showing that no amount of online negativity can stop his momentum.
