South African singer and songwriter Aymos has been making waves in the music industry with his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Recently, he opened up about a more personal side of his life during an interview on Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio with Nandi Madida. When asked about his track “Bahle Bahlukile,” Aymos revealed that the song was inspired by none other than his girlfriend, whom he cherishes deeply.
“It’s a beautiful song, inspired by my girlfriend, whom I love dearly,” Aymos shared with Nandi. He described how their relationship and lifestyle, particularly their weekend gigs, shaped the emotions and narrative behind the song. “We’re always out on weekends, gigging through the night, [and] literally come back home when everyone is asleep—and I would really wake everyone up.”
Aymos painted a vivid picture of their life together, highlighting the moments when they return home after a long night of performances. He shared how, in the early morning hours, curiosity and a hint of jealousy would sometimes emerge. “Everyone is up and trying to understand—‘How [was] your day? What were you doing?’ You know, in a sense of jealousy, sometimes—‘Let me see who you were with; where you were staying,’ and and and.”
However, rather than letting these moments create tension, Aymos used them as an opportunity to express his love and reassure his partner. “On that song, I’m opening up to her, like, ‘Baby girl, you don’t have to worry about anything. When daddy’s on the road, he’s really doing it for all of us, and we are responsible. God is watching over us, so [you] can sleep!’”
Aymos’s dedication to his girlfriend is evident in “Bahle Bahlukile,” where he not only reassures her but also affirms their shared commitment and trust. “I dedicated that song to her, trying to explain to her that God’s got us,” Aymos concluded.
Through his music, Aymos continues to capture the complexities of love and life, offering listeners a glimpse into his personal experiences and the deep emotions that drive his artistry. With “Bahle Bahlukile,” he has created a heartfelt anthem for anyone who has ever needed to reassure their loved one, proving that even in the busy life of a musician, love remains a central and guiding force.
