DJ Maphorisa the renowned DJ, producer, Amapiano superstar DJ Maphorisa is reportedly R20 million in debt with record label Sony Music and struggling to pay up.

DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sekowe, has found himself in a financial predicament after entering into a staggering R20 million loan agreement with Sony Music. Reports suggest that Maphorisa is now drowning in debt and falling behind on payments, causing significant stress and financial strain.

Sources close to the situation reveal that Maphorisa took an advance from Sony Music, confident that he would be able to repay it. However, he is now struggling to meet the repayment demands, which include hefty interest charges. “He took an advance from the company because he was sure that he was going to be able to pay it back, but now he’s struggling to pay it back because of course, he has to pay the interest back,” a source disclosed.

Another informant mentioned that Maphorisa is scrambling to come up with the money and is experiencing sleepless nights trying to resolve the financial mess. “He’s stressed because he has to pay them back. He fell into the trap that most artists fall into, taking advances from record labels and forgetting that they’ll want it back with interest,” the source explained.

In a desperate bid to repay the debt, Maphorisa is reportedly putting pressure on artists he has collaborated with, urging them to gig more frequently. This move has allegedly caused tension within his circle, as other artists feel the brunt of his financial woes. “Other artists are bearing the brunt of his debt because he needs to pay up or else he stands to lose big time. The debt is old now, and he promised to pay it up,” another informant revealed.

The revelation of Maphorisa’s debt has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with users offering banter and suggestions on how he could potentially repay the money. While some sympathize with his situation, others criticize the financial mismanagement that led to such a significant debt.

Despite the current financial strain, Maphorisa remains a towering figure in the Amapiano scene, known for his infectious beats and high-energy performances. As Maphorisa navigates this challenging period, the music industry watches closely to see how he will manage to overcome this substantial financial hurdle and continue his influential career in the South African music landscape.
