Amapiano star Sabelo Zuma has found himself in hot water after failing to appear for a scheduled performance at the Youth Day celebration held at The Village and Pub Grill in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga. Despite receiving full payment for the gig, Zuma was a no-show, leading to demands for a refund from the event organizers.
According to a source, the former Amaroto member initially provided an excuse after receiving his deposit, insisting that he needed the full payment upfront to cover travel expenses from a prior engagement. After receiving the total amount, Zuma’s excuses began to pile up, citing car issues and other contradictory reasons for his delay.
“He first told the organizer after receiving his deposit that he needed the full payment for traveling from his previous gig. He then received the money, then he said he was having car issues and made up a lot of lame excuses that were contradictory,” the source explained. “He kept telling the organizers that he was on the way. They believed him and trusted him as they had worked with him before. He told the organizers around 8pm that he was on the way but the venue ended up closing around 2am, without communicating whether he would not make it or not.”
The situation left many attendees and the organizers feeling cheated and disappointed. The absence of clear communication and Zuma’s failure to show up not only marred the event but also raised concerns about his credibility and professionalism.
“But also it’s not about the refund, but about credibility,” the source continued. “People expect you to come and when you don’t, they feel cheated. Nonetheless, we will see how the matter can be resolved.”
Zuma’s team has responded to the backlash, stating that the circumstances were beyond their control. They have assured the organizers that they will discuss the situation and work towards a resolution. However, the incident has already cast a shadow on Zuma’s reputation, emphasizing the importance of reliability and professionalism in the music industry.
The organizers were now left with the task of managing the fallout from the event, including addressing the disappointment of the attendees.
