Rising Amapiano star Young Stunna recently opened up about his journey and the significant moment when he received his first R5,000 from DJ Maphorisa. In an interview with Mr JazziQ, Stunna shared how that initial cash gift made him feel and the impact it had on his life and career.

Young Stunna recounted his first visit to DJ Maphorisa’s house, a milestone moment in his burgeoning career. “The first cash was R5,000 from Phori,” Stunna said. “When I went to Phori for the first time, when I slept at his house, he was like, ‘go’ (with giggles). At that time, I felt I was in Sandton. I didn’t buy sneakers, just junk, bought everything that I desired.” The excitement of receiving the money was palpable as he indulged in simple pleasures and celebrated his small victories.

The young artist used the money to enjoy himself, doing everything he had dreamed of. “I went out to arcades, I did everything. At that time, I hadn’t started gigging; I was just doing music. That’s when we recorded ‘Bopha,’ actually,” he recalled. This period marked the beginning of his collaboration with DJ Maphorisa, leading to the creation of the hit song “Bopha.”

However, as Young Stunna’s career progressed, his attitude towards money evolved. “Now when the money comes, I am chilled,” he explained. “The first person I think about is my mom; that’s how we were raised.” He emphasized the importance of giving back to family, a value deeply ingrained in his upbringing and culture. Both he and Mr JazziQ highlighted the spiritual and cultural significance of supporting one’s family, believing that taking care of home is essential for personal and professional growth.

Young Stunna’s story is a testament to his rapid rise in the music industry. His unique sound blends electronic music with Amapiano, a South African house music genre that has gained immense popularity. His tracks are known for their upbeat tempo, catchy melodies, and infectious beats that get listeners moving.

Receiving his first R5,000 from DJ Maphorisa was more than just a financial boost for Young Stunna; it was a symbol of his potential and a reward for his hard work. This experience reinforced the importance of diligence and generosity, showing that success is not only about personal gain but also about uplifting and supporting those who have supported you. Young Stunna’s journey from receiving that initial cash to becoming a recognized artist serves as an inspiration to many aspiring musicians.
