KMAT recently opened up about the creation process behind this unique track, revealing its personal significance to her.
In a candid reflection, KMAT shared insights into how “Mkhukhu” came to fruition. She described it as a passion project in which she orchestrated the complete artistic direction. Recalling the inception of the song, KMAT explained, “For the making of “Mkhukhu”, what happened was that we’d already been in studio for quite a while. We had a few beats at that time, but we were still waiting for CowBoii to come through to choose a beat so he could put vocals on it. There was this one day when I was so sick I couldn’t go to the studio, but CowBoii actually went on ahead and did his thing and even kicked everyone out of the studio so he could. When I asked him why he sang about umkhukhu, he said it’s something he had experienced from home.”
Her latest single, “Mkhukhu,” dropped in April 2024 and has been gaining traction on various platforms, including TikTok and Instagram, where she initiated a viral challenge alongside her team. This track showcases DJ KMAT’s musical prowess as an Amapiano artist, featuring collaborations with prominent artists such as CowBoii, Djygubzin, and Ranger, among others.
