From Picking Up Bottles at JazziQ’s Club to Topping Charts: The Rise of TNK MusiQ

TNK MusiQ, a power duo hailing from Johannesburg’s Turffontein, has rapidly ascended as one of South Africa’s prominent Amapiano producers. Siseko Njenge (Kyle De Producer) and Thabo Ndlovu (T-Man RSA), this dynamic duo has carved out a name for themselves through hard work and a relentless passion for music.

Their journey to success was anything but conventional. Before making waves in the music scene, TNK MusiQ found themselves working odd jobs, including picking up bottles at Mr JazziQ’s Junk Park nightclub. “We used to pick up bottles at Mr JazziQ’s Junk Park. We did this for a reason, so we could be close to the music, celebrities and when we can get a chance, to DJ,” Thabo says. “We would do anything, pick u bottles, clean and be sent around, so that we got an opportunity to DJ, and to get people to listen to our music,” adds Thabo.

Their fortunes changed when they caught the attention of DJ DBN Gogo, real name Mandisa Radebe. With her guidance and support, TNK MusiQ began to climb the ranks of the Amapiano genre. “At first, she was skeptical, like all artists. We started working with her. She did everything for us; took us to gigs, helped us when we needed food, transport, and everything to basically get us ahead,” Kyle reflects. “But after some time, we decided to change paths. She wanted to sign us, but we wanted to be independent, so we had to find our feet. But we still work with her, we are on good terms and credit her for our success,” Thabo adds.

However, TNK MusiQ’s journey wasn’t without its challenges. Despite their time spent at JazziQ’s club, they never had the opportunity to collaborate with him musically. “He knew us as just as intwana who work there and clean and that we make music. With all the people we have worked with, we have never called him, he has not called us to work.”

Nevertheless, they remain steadfast in their commitment to each other and their craft. “We won’t ever split up. We believe in talking through our issues,” asserts Kyle. “We don’t want to confuse people and make them feel pressured to pick a side, we are good as a duo and that is how we want to keep it.”

Their dedication and perseverance have paid off, with hit singles like “Bells,” “Mina Nawe,” and “Saka” catapulting them to fame. Recently they released an EP with Dj Maphorisa “Ask & Receive”. Despite their success, TNK MusiQ remains humble and focused on their goals. “We are ready for the next move now, and to go abroad,” they declare.

TNK MusiQ’s story is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and unwavering determination. From humble beginnings to topping charts, they have proven that with talent and perseverance, anything is possible.
