DJY ZAN, a rising star in the Amapiano scene, has released his highly anticipated EP, ‘G4SSED’, today. The EP, which showcases his signature Mozambican sound, is set to captivate audiences and ignite dance floors worldwide. Alongside the EP’s release, DJY ZAN also drops the lead single, ‘Hamba No Zani’, promising listeners a taste of the infectious beats and melodies to come.
Drawing inspiration from his deep-rooted love for music since childhood, DJY ZAN’s sound is heavily influenced by old-school house music. As one of the pioneers of the distinctive Black Is Brown Mozambican sound, he continues to push boundaries and evolve his musical style.
Speaking about the lead single, ‘Hamba No Zani’, DJY ZAN explains the song’s concept and its connection to his personal journey: “Hamba No Zani is about vibing with me, like si’hamba no’zan basically. The vocals were from an old track of mine, so I had to use the old vocals for a new beat. It’s also like a comeback song, letting the people know that Zan is still here.”
With its catchy hooks and infectious rhythms, ‘Hamba No Zani’ serves as a testament to DJY ZAN’s ability to blend traditional Mozambican sounds with contemporary beats. He adds, “The sound of ‘Hamba No Zani’ is catchy; you can even hear with vocals ‘Hamba no Zani’ that we are rocking now. Wherever the track is played, you can hear that Zani is playing now.”
Furthermore, DJY ZAN sheds light on the unique characteristics of the Mozambican sound, describing it as a fusion of various genres like broken beat and percussion. “The Mozambican sound is something unique, it’s not just any genre. I would not say it’s amapiano, but it’s amapiano; it is different. It is infused with other sounds, like broken beats and percussion, like it’s all mixed,” he elaborates.
‘G4SSED’ promises listeners a diverse musical journey, featuring collaborations with Mpho Spizzy and Musiqal_Stylist. However, the EP primarily showcases DJY ZAN’s solo prowess, with just two featured artists.
As fans and music lovers immerse themselves in the sounds of ‘G4SSED’, DJY ZAN remains committed to pushing boundaries and leaving a lasting impact on the Amapiano genre. With his unique blend of Mozambican influences and contemporary beats, DJY ZAN is poised to make waves in the music industry and establish himself as a force to be reckoned with.
