Tyla Laura Seethal (born 30 January 2002), known mononymously as Tyla, is a South African singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Johannesburg, she signed to Epic Records in 2021 after the domestic success of her debut single “Getting Late” featuring Kooldrink.
Tyla finally speaks out after serving a sterling performance of her hit record, Water on Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.The South African star placed her country on the map; it is also a dream come true for her.
Taking to social media on Thursday, the star shared photos from the show and expressed excitement in the caption.“Not long ago I was just a girl in South Africa dreaming of moments like this… Even though I’ve been grindingggg for years it feels like this is all happening so fast. I cannot wait for the world to see what an African Popstar looks like!”
Tyla rose to international prominence with her 2023 single “Water”, which was a top ten hit in the United Kingdom and the first song by a South African soloist to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years.
