Ahead of her first gig in Mpumalanga, Skhotheni said she was “nervous but also very excited” about pursuing a career in the music industry. “I’ve been preparing for a year, it’s just that I have been private about it. Now I’m ready to do it. I’ve been different in everything that I do and this will also be different. I was born to stand out,” she told TshisaLIVE.
“With my journey in the entertainment industry, I think people knew me as Gogo Skhotheni and didn’t know the dreams that I had before I became a sangoma. It’s just that my sangoma part was the one that introduced me to the world.
Maweni owns a herbal store and sells jewellery known as Maweni Chakra Online. According to her Facebook profile, Maweni is a gobela at Impande Ye Zulu. She is also famous for appearing in several South African TV shows.
