His genre of music is Amapiano, although he first ventured into Gqom, but due to the Durban producer’s calling him out for doing a genre that wasn’t from his town, he decided to major in Amapiano.

Having driven the heights of the Amapiano genre since 2020, the 35-year-old from Soshanguve in Pretoria believes that the government is getting in the way of artists’ work and money.
Maphorisa is aware that Amapiano is enjoying its international zenith but the challenge of work VISA’s has forced event cancellations.“I love to see people growing, Amapiano artist/djs are doing more international gigs now which means we represent Sauta Arts n Culture should be doing something about this, we need ur support not just moneym,” Maphorisa said via X (formally known as Twitter).
“We struggling with getting VISAS [sic] we spend too much money to get them,” the co-creator of the smash hit Mnike added.
“If u can create a system where we can get visas easy cause some artists/djs get declined. The flag Must Go High 🇿🇦❤️ Speaking my mind Arts n Culture please take care of Amapiano Danko 🙏🏿”
