“I’m Going Through A Lot As A Woman In A Male-dominated Industry” – Bontle Smith Reveals. Bontle Smith is an artists commonly known for her polished vocals. Since her burst into the Amapiano mainstream, she has consistently served us banger and now she seeks to uphold her standards with her new EP.

Popularly known for being featured on hits such as Amanikiniki, Sam Sokolo and Sandton, Bontle recently released her 6-track EP titled ‘This Is Me’ which features the likes of Tyler ICU, Cooper SA, TNK MusiQ and other too numerous to mention. The EP dropped on Women’s Month, August.

“I am going through a lot as a woman in a male-dominated industry and I want to make a statement with this release. The women of 1956 fought for our place in society, and women today are still fighting for the same struggles. We must work ten times more than our male colleagues for us to be seen and heard. That is why I believe in working with women because when we work together, we have so much power.”

Growing up in Thembisa, Bontle Smith always knew she was going to become an artist and perform on Stage. Bontle started her musical career whilst attending the University of Johannesburg where she joined a contemporary singing group called “Current of Blackness”. Bontle met DJ Giggs Superstar from Soul Candi which subsequently led to her being featured on “Deep House Chronicles 4”, this sparked her love for house music which would form the foundation of her music career. In 2018 Bontle collaborated with one of Africa’s biggest musicians, Cassper Nyovest on the song “Gets Getsa” off his “Sweet and Short (Deluxe Edition)” project.
