Caltonic SA Opens Up About His Latest Project ‘Bass Play Effect’. Elias Shitlhangu, better known as Caltonic SA, was born in Seshego, Limpopo. At a tender age, he developed a love of music. In 2017 he began taking his musical career seriously as a producer and DJ.
‘Bass Play Effect’ consists of 5 tracks, starting with two instrumentals, “Shelela” (Zulu for “slide”) and “Predator,” reflecting his unleashed inner beast mode. “This is a project which is very close to my heart because it came organically without much effort from outside, everything came from within, the ideas, the inspiration, and the energy all came from within. It took me 2 years working on the project because like I said earlier that talent evolves, so it is during the making of this project that evolution was taking place within me and an amazing piece of art was created,” he told GQ.
he dropped ‘Bass Play Effect’ on the 28th of July, releasing only 5 tracks, however he will be releasing more work off the album in October. “It’s probably a 16 tracks album with mostly new and fresh talent in the Amapiano fraternity featured and the evolved Caltonic SA Bass Play sound emerging.”
CaltonicSA’s exposure to the formalities of the day-to-day running of a music business got him interested in being an entrepreneur and he ended up acquiring a partnership with his Boss Thabz le Madonga and became a director at Jarden Entertainment. Together, they went on to produce a powerful and unique bass track under the alias, ‘Mr. Bassplay.’
