DJ Tshegu On How DJ-ing Career Started. A Bloemfontein born female DJ is set to take over Africa within the next four months with her Africa Tour. Tshegofatso Petlhu, aka DJ Tshegu, has been in the music industry for 17 years.
Her DJ-ing career began when her father was set to DJ at a wedding in Lesotho but fell ill. “When I noticed my father could not play, I took over and played my first song. It was that moment he realized I have been paying attention to him when he was spinning the decks,” she explained.
She described herself as a DJ and a performer, who completed her Sound Engineering course in 2020 at PAS Media Academy. She has previously headlined events, performed and shared big stages with artists like Major League, Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, Busta929 and Uncle Waffles.
The advice she has for artists and creatives is to get a team of honest, pure intentioned people who can help build their brand. “There are certain things you can’t do by yourself and that’s why you need a team to help you achieve them.”
