Bontle Smith On Singing Her Amapiano Song In Sepedi.Bontle Mabotlhale Smith, professionally Bontle Smith, is a South African artist, vocalist, model, songwriter, dancer, and upcoming television sensation. Bontle Smith joined the choir at a very young age and later joined a singing group while in the university.
Continuing from Lerato, the single that is out from her EP titled Dipula is a continuation of the love story but she also wants people to hear her sing in isiPedi, her mother tongue. She says though Lerato was inspired by someone she was dating at the time, Dipula just embraces love in general.
“I wanted to go back to singing in siPedi, there aren’t many amapiano songs sung in siPedi or seTswana. I wanted to bring that version of amapiano and that is the only way that will make me stand out as an artist. And so far, people are loving it, I performed my single from the EP when I finished my set, and the response was amazing. I feared how they would receive the song it was amazing,” she told News24.
In a Facebook post, the star revealed that she started singing at the age of 12 at her local church. Her debut song was called Lose Yourself in the Music done in 2010. She did the song together with DJ Giggs. She has featured in a number of music videos, including Cassper Nyovest’s hit single, Gets Getsa 2.0. She is also the first female to be part of DJ Maphorisa’s BLAQBOY Music.
