Pic! Busta 929 Remembers Mpura Two Years After His Passing. Mongezi Thomas Stuurman (22 September 1995 – 9 August 2021), known professionally as Mpura, was a South African rapper, fashion designer and record producer best known for his hit song “Umsebenzi Wethu”.

On 11 December 2020, he and Busta 929 featuring Lady Du, Reece Madlisa, Mr JazziQ and Zuma single Umsebenzi Wethu was released. The song reached number one local iTunes charts and was certified platinum.

Both Mpura and Killer Kau reportedly died in the crash. Sources confirmed to TshisaLIVE the amapiano duo were reportedly involved in a car accident while on their way to a gig in Rustenburg. The South African amapiano industry took a devastating hit after two of its musicians tragically passed away on August 9, 2021.The young musicians were a part of the amapiano scene in South Africa, a style of house music that emerged in the region in 2012. It’s been two years since Mpura’s passing and his friends including Busta 929, continue to remember him. See pic:

Before he rose to fame in the music industry, he was involved in fashion and founded Mpura Designs, a unisex street style brand. In 2018, he made his South African Fashion Week debut, showcasing his Autumn/Winter 2019 collection.
