Mr Dutch Unwraps His Experience On Collaborating With Aymos. The first quarter of 2023 has come and gone swiftly, not without a slew of amapiano’s most respected producers releasing full-length albums that run the gamut from dark and bassy, to balmy, bouncy and bright. The genre has also seen artists from other countries experiment with it.
Bright Ukpabi, known professionally as Mr. Dutch, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter renowned for his alter ego, Afro Cyborg. Bursting onto the scene with hits such as ‘Antidote’, ‘Keys To My Heart’ and ‘E No Finish’ featuring Burna Boy, Mr. Dutch brought the Afro Cyborg to life through the visuals for his song titled, ‘Mamacita’.
His latest single Ungowami featuring amapiano star Aymos has him showing a different side to his artistry.“That song was an organic collaboration. Aymos sings in isiZulu and has a very indigenous sound. I love the traditional and cultural aspects of his music. I wanted to merge that with my style to create something authentic. That interpretation of love made the song authentic. Our connection was also authentic and not forced. I love to work with people I connect with and not just have meaningless features,” he told TshisaLIVE.
In 2022, he teamed up with artist Kida Kudz for the joint project ‘World Citizens’. The EP showcased flourishing talent bridging between London and Lagos’ parallel Afrofusion scenes, a compilation of talent and sound. His latest collection of work will certainly cement his status as an artist to watch.
