Moonchild Sanelly Expresses Disappointment With Amapiano Album. Moonchild Sanelly is an electrifying performer from South Africa whose music blends pop and hip-hop with gqom and amapiano. Moonchild Sanelly has established herself as a force of nature, beguiling crowds with her dynamic live performances, and empowering lyrics.

Moonchild Sanelly is saddened at how most Amapiano albums don’t hit.Taking to Twitter on Monday, the South African singer made the claim that most Amapiano projects don’t hit as much as its singles

Sanelly has yet to witness many Amapiano albums reach such heights of success. She questioned the lyrics of the songs and expressed her disappointment.“Sadly, Most AMapiano albums as full body of work don’t maintain the singles statuses Why?! I get disappointed just as a writer on some: Didn’t that just Sound like one long song?! Maybe it’s me. Whats worse is I don’t listen to ppls work in general When I do I’m saddened Anyway,” she wrote.

A radical figure in South Africa’s electronic music scene, Sanelly has made a name for herself over the last 15 years by blending homegrown genres with the international sounds of punk, hip-hop, and jazz to create what she calls “future ghetto funk.” The sonic elixir plucks and combines defining experiences from the artist’s early days coming up in Durban poetry circles to her present as a global artist. “I could never be boxed,” Sanelly says. “I’m a storyteller. Anytime I hear a beat, there’s a mood I see in my head and there is a story I can tell. There is no limit. I can write about anything and absolutely nothing.”
