Lehlohonolo Marota, popularly known as Kwiish SA, became an overnight sensation after the release of his song Gong Gong in 2018.  At just 21 years old, this highly accomplished South African DJ, producer, and remixer made a massive name for himself in Amapiano circles. He has been dubbed the Prince of Amapiano, and many have credited him with bringing Amapiano out of the shadows and into the mainstream with his hit song Gong Gong. He began his career as a DJ in 2013 and then started producing his own music in 2014. He released his debut EP in 2018, with Gong Gong subsequently becoming an overnight club hit.

Kwiish SA is not limited to a specific genre and produces Amapiano, Afro House, Commercial House, and Soulful House. He’s since released memorable songs that have had huge traction on radio and the club scene and have earmarked him as a stable name in the Amapiano scene, such as Liyoshona and Vosloorus Roots.

After Kwiish SA’s successful last offering “Back 2 Black”, he is back with yet another beautiful banger titled: “Sarafina”. A soulful Amapiano track with a harmonious vocal contribution from talented, versatile Maskandi singer and songwriter Skandi Soul and musically acclaimed world-class pianist and producer Dr Thulz’s consistent production sound. The song is about a beautiful girl named Sarafina. There is not a lot of lyrical content in the song because what the song entails is that “Sarafina” inspires really great melodies and vocal riffs and runs.
“I know that the title of the song borders on political connotations and seeks to remind us about some parts of South Africa’s history, and yes, he certainly is who we are mainly because of where we come from as a people, and we are proud of what we have become and still continue to become.” – Kwiish SA “Sarafina” is available on ALL digital streaming platforms.
