5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Real Sam Deep. South African audiences are used to overnight stardom and one-hit wonders. Especially since the rise of the internet, it is common for young and inexperienced artists to suddenly become celebrities with one song, through a viral video or a catchy trend. From house to gqom to amapiano, in all these bustling, hyperproductive scenes, the rise to fame of many of these chosen ones has been as quick as their omission. Real Sam Deep is one of those.

Check these out:

1. Born Samukelo Rorisang Mavuso on 18 April 2001, Sam Deep is a producer-DJ, who in the past two-years has made a name for himself within the Amapiano landscape.

2. Born in Killarney, Orlando West, Soweto, Sam Deep initially believed that his future would lie in being a soccer star.

3. Ironically, it was the drives back from soccer practice with his uncle that would shift his focus from football to music; inspired by the 45s his uncle would play during their time together after practice, the Rota producer would mark this as his first introduction to his love for music.

4. In early 2016 Samukelo decided to start and pursue a career as a DJ and that decision birthed Sam Deep; a baby faced 15-year-old DJ who would soon ingratiate himself into the Amapiano culture.

5. On 8 April 2022, Sam Deep released his latest single, Kusezo Khanya featuring Babalwa M, Playgal and De Mthuda and the track is already gaining massive traction streaming services and has in fact gone platinum.
