Rapper Saudi On Whether He’d Jump On To The Amapiano Phenomenon. Amapiano has taken over music reigns for the past couple of years, not only in South Africa where it originates but it has also crossed over to the rest of the continent and now the world.
Back home where it all started, there’s still a big debate on whether the genre has become bigger than South African Hip-Hop. Whilst some rappers have embraced Amapiano, collaborating with leading artists in the genre and some making the switch completely there are still some rappers who are not ready to embrace Amapiano. Rapper Lucasraps recently shared how he thinks Amapiano is boring saying, ““Amapiano is boring. I don’t give a f*ck what you say in the comments. Lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! this shit boring asf.”
And now another rapper, Saudi is sharing whether he’s ever consider doing Amapiano. In a recent interview on Slikour Onlife, the rapper made it clear that SA Hip Hop is not dead as long as he’s around. Asked if he has considered Amapiano, Saudi responded sounding off saying, “Maybe there’s this trend that rappers become piano artists, that’s what going on, but to say to hop on piano, like would you decide to become a piano artist…?”
“It’s a great genre, it’s amazing. I love the log drum, it’s my…I’m about the log drum so I will incorporate the log drum into my music. It’s a part of great music, the log drum, period,” he added.
