MFR Souls On How They Feel About The Newer Amapiano Artists ‘Eating’ Better. Amapiano as we know is evolving. With new artists entering the genre with new sounds and experimenting. It seems the new age Amapiano artists are enjoying more success locally and internationally and making more money.

MFR Souls is back on the scene with new music and currently working on a joint EP with Kabza de Small. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, the duo shared what they believe made Amapiano grow quickly with many artists jumping on. “Amapiano was one of the genres whereby if you were really hungry, it was the fastest way to secure the bag. In that sense, we ended up having many producers which has happened before,” the duo said.

Asked about how they feel about the likes of Uncle Waffles and Focalistic’s successes, the duo shared how they believe it’s normal progression.

“It’s something that’s been happening for years. You look at Kwaito you understand that the guys that came after them (the Kwaito pioneers), those are the ones that ate the most. It happens, we can only do things up to a certain level. A fresher mind, a fresher talent comes into place and produces something new out of what is going on right now… As long as we still making a living and we’re still pushing. It’s life, there’s no need for us to be angry at the fact that probably Uncle Waffles is eating more… no.”

The duo said the nice thing about the Amapiano growth is that the new artists still have respect for them as the genre’s amagrootman.
