Tyler ICU Explains Why He Isn’t Doing Hip Hop.Tyler ICU is a South African musician and record producer who has produced a number of hit tracks, in different genres, although he’s now known as the amapiano mainstay. Having produced and worked on a dozen songs, Tyler ICU officially landed his first amapiano hit in 2021 alongside DJ Maphorisa titled ‘Banyana’, that made the yanos fans finally recognise him.

Tyler ICU took to social media to explained why he is not joining the hip-hop game in SA.It is unarguable that most Amapiano stars kicked off their musical journey as rappers, but switched to yano as its politics are obviously different.

Taking to Twitter, Tyler said he’s been asked by lots of people on why he isn’t in the rap music business. In response, ICU said he avoided SA hip hop because the producers are not well respected.“Everyone is asking me about why am I not doing hip hop My thing is people in the community of hip hop producers are treated like shit,” he wrote.

Tyler is signed under DJ Maphorisa’s Blaqboy Music says that working with artists such as Maphorisa is a very good experience and learning curve for him when it comes to the mastering of his craft.

Tyler said that Dr. Dre got him interested in doing music in general because he was the leading producer in 2002 and 2003. “I started exploring with beats when I was about 10-years old and that’s when I got my first computer. When I was 15 years old I started to make the work more professionally,” he said
