Josiah De Disciple Reminisces On His First Time Meeting Kabza De Small. The multi talented Josiah De Disciple was born and raised in Alexander. His music started making a mark in Alexander as well as Tembisa and Soweto, which has misled people to believe he is from Tembisa. Both Josiah and Tumelo (Mr Jazziq) hail from Alexander, where they grew up together and formed JazziDisciples.
After playing music at taverns and local gigs, he began making beats with Mr Jazziq and their breakthrough finally came in 2018. Their partnership was fruitful from 2018 to 2020, but they decided to pursue solo projects for two years. As an independent artist, he has done incredibly well.
“When the whole movement started, Kabza and I were working on our music and honing the sound. We had heard of each other from people in the hood but I hadn’t met him when I was first starting out. We then finally met in 2020 and did two songs that were loved by other DJs – they’d include them on their set… this is where we noticed that this genre was gaining momentum, so we kept working on more songs,” he told Sowetan.
“My collaboration with Kabza made me realise that as amapiano DJs, we are a lot strong when we bring our skills together and master them in our music.”
