Felo Le Tee Explains Why Having International Artists Jamming To Amapiano Music Is Not An Achievement To Him. Tsholofelo Mokhine known as Felo Le Tee is a musical genius. He echoes hard work and originality within the music industry. Born and raised in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga, South Africa, Felo Le Tee embarked on his musical career at the age of 14, starting with a collection of cassettes playing on both sides with the other one on cue.
The Yanos Magazine caught up with the record producer to find out more about him. When asked how he feels about international artists jamming to amapiano music and if there is any specific international artist he’d like to see jamming to one of his songs on the new EP, Felo said: “It’d be nice to get support from artists who are from other countries. Although I wouldn’t say that’s the main goal; and it’s not an achievement to us when international artists jam to our songs, but it’s about the culture.”
“It’s great in a sense that they recognise as well as notice the sound, the culture and the journey and the journey of the sound. I don’t have a problem with it, but it shouldn’t end there as if it’s the only recognition we want. For example, let’s take Beyonce, we don’t just want her to jam to our music, but also for her to try and jump on the sound and reach out to collaborate with that specific artist,” he said in an interview.
Felo has worked with the infamous Oscar P on a few projects and the US based Nylon Trax family, James Nylon.10 One of his biggest amapiano songs at the moment is titled ‘Ngwana Mani’ where he featured DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Mpura, and Visca.
