Reece Madlisa Gears Up To Drop The First Single To His Upcoming EP ‘Kwaito Nama Medi’. While making music in a band may have its perks, individual creativity is often suffocated, forcing a duo or group to seek out solo careers.Bands often break up after fallouts or differences in vision, but there are some who separate on a good note and continue to support each other.
Reece Madlisa announced his debut solo EP ‘Kwaito Nama Medi’ last week amidst rumours of an Amaroto breakup. The first single to the project is coming this Friday and it’s titled ‘Ndonela’. The track features vocalist Jabulile, and, in the snippet, the two artists can be heard having an exchange where Reece promises to change his ways while she tells her side of the story. The song lives up to the project’s title and gives away one aspect of women relations Reece will be dealing with on the project. The artwork for ‘Kwaito Nama Medi’ is a homage to Brown Dash as it references the late kwaito star’s 2007 sophomore album ‘Mthandazo Wabolova’.
The amapiano artist and his partner Zuma have been rumoured to be going through a messy breakup after a few years of dishing out hits like the smash ‘Iy’ntsimbi Zase Envy’ and ‘Megalo’ and working with the likes of Mr JazziQ, Pabi Cooper, Beast RSA as well as releasing their eponymous series of EPs. Check out the snippet for ‘Ndonela’ below and be on the lookout for ‘Kwaito Nama Medi’ next week.
While speculation on social media predicts the end of the band ahead of Reece Madlisa’s debut single, the duo’s manager, Archie “Dada” Basile, explained to TshisaLIVE they were still an item. “They just decided to try going solo. That’s just about it, there’s no separation. The boys have a label called Amaroto entertainment which they co-own, they are not going their separate ways, even if they were to take two years off doing their solos, they are still contracted by the label. They could even possibly drop an album later this year. But it’s not even about contracts, these boys were literally born together, their parents are best friends.”
