Former Amaroto Member, Zuma Launches His Own Record Label. Reece Madlisa and Zuma are the individuals behind the surprise rise of amapiano musical duo, AmaRoto. The word is a tsotsi taal term for rats, which is commonly used in townships to describe the large rats which run amok in certain areas of South Africa. One of the townships which is known for having a rodent issue is Alexandra, which is located in the north of Johannesburg.
The duo reportedly split after being involved in a huge fight. While Reece dropped his own solo project, Zuma seems to be focusing on his solo career as well. Zuma has launched a new record label named Umshini. Zuma shared the name of his new label’s Instagram account with thousands of followers.
Last year, Reece Madlisa and Zuma, the kwaito-amapiano duo that’s collectively known as Amaroto delebrated a huge major milestone. They dominated the stage at Megalo, one of the most popular and happening night spots in Jozi. But they weren’t there just to perform, they were there to put pen to paper on a new record deal with Sony Music Africa. Appropriately, the duo’s latest single is titled “Megalo” and has become somewhat of an anthem about partying it up at the venue. @SAHHExperts tweeted: “Amoroto are now signed to SONY Music Entertainment, this was confirmed in the early hours of this morning at Megalo,” shared @SAHHExpert. “Amaroto have upcoming projects coming out soon.”
Amaroto have been consistently cooking up hits since 2020 and have already put out two impressive projects, “Ama Roto” and “Ama Roto, Vol 2 (Kwaito Edition)”. Ama Roto, Vol 2 (Kwaito Edition)” also earned the duo a nomination at the South African Music Awards(SAMAs) for Duo/Group of the Year.
