Msaki Opens Up About Cheating Claims With Smash Afrika. Asanda Lusaseni Mvana known professionally as Msaki, is a South African composer, singer, and songwriter. Born and grew up in East London, during her childhood she was involved in musical activities.
Musician and songwriter Msaki has cleared her name in the messy cheating scandal she was embroiled in last year involving 5FM radio host Afrika “Smash Afrika” Mdutyulwa and his estranged wife Kefiloe Chuene.
During her interview on Thursday 19 January on Africa’s number one podcast show Podcast and Chill, the singer told hosts MacG and Sol Phenduka that she had nothing to do with that relationship coming to an end and all the reports bout her hurt.
In November, the Fetch Your Life hitmaker and the radio presenter made headlines after Kefiloe’s relative informed Sunday World that the media personalities were having an affair.
The source had claimed that Msaki is one of the main reasons Smash Afrika’s marriage of two years to Kefiloe had ended. Kefiloe is the daughter of legendary actress Rami Chuene. Together, the former couple have a daughter. According to the source, Kefiloe found pictures of the rumoured couple and a letter from the Ubomi Abumanga hitmaker in which she allegedly confessed her undying love for the presenter.
Addressing the rumours on Podcast and Chill, Msaki said that she was hurt and labelled the story “a gross violation of privacy”. Msaki told the hosts that she had nothing to do with Smash Afrika’s marriage coming to an end, saying she was targeted for clicks and clout because she is unproblematic and only focuses on her music. At first, the mom-of-three did not want to addresses the rumours. “It is not my story to tell, MacG, and I would have expected for the person whose story it is to clear it up. I find myself in this position because this the only bit of personal information that is out about me in 10 years,” she said.
Asked if she did not want to set the record straight, she said: “I guess it would be unwise of me to not just say that I had nothing to do with the end of that relationship.” The singer also said that she was hurt that the person whose story it is did not take the initiative to clear her name, adding that she was embarrassed something personal was in the media for everyone to see. “A whole love letter. A letter was published in the tabloid. Like, I wrote something from my heart and it ended up in the tabloid. That is so humiliating,” she said.
Msaki also lashed out at the media, saying it was malicious for making her look like a homewrecker — a label she says now follows her. When asked if she had spoken to Smash Afrika since the scandal, she said that they were good for a while but she was disappointed that he did not just clear the air and tell the truth. “All I did in that situation was love someone, encourage somebody and I thought that they were clear of whatever their past meant. And unfortunately I’ve been roped into it to seem like I’ve gone and broken something that I’ve found essentially completely broken,” she said.
