Mfana Kah Gogo Reacts To Passing Matric. Mfana kah Gogo started out singing gospel at church. Since his uncle was a hip-hop singer, though he never became famous, Mfana kah Gogo developed interest in the genre. He says it was only in December that he started singing Amapiano music. Since then he has composed songs that can fit in two albums.
He’s been in the spotlight – and it’s all good news. First it was because he was building his mother a house, now the 19-year-old is celebrating passing his matric. Sipho Mbonambi, who goes by Mfana Ka Gogo, has made it. “Washo ugogo wami ntwana qinisela wena uzo phumelela [my grandmother said hold on my boy you will succeed],” he posted. “We did it,” says the grateful teen.
In his previous interview with Drum, he said he was very confident that he nailed his matric exams. “I know that I passed because I did put in the efforts as hard as I can and paused a lot of things for it.”
He described the year 2022 as school for him. He says this is because he had learnt to be a responsible young man. “Last year was a learning curve for me. I can say it was school because I have learnt a lot about how to be responsible and take care of myself because I was still in high school, on the other hand, it was my passion – music. So I learnt the balance between the two.”
Since he signed on the dotted line with Sony, he has been overwhelmed by mixed emotions because everything just happened too fast for him. “I am happy and scared at the same time. Everything just happened for me at same time. I never thought this time I would have signed a recording deal and have my music ready to be released. Few months ago, I was just enjoying singing on Tik Tok for my fans. I was just enjoying singing and exploring with different sounds and God made it happen for me,” he admitted.
